RDA: Working for the South West
Regional Development Australia (RDA) is a nationwide initiative of the Commonwealth Government.
RDA-South West is one of 55 offices working with State and Local Government for the betterment of regional Australia and providing a framework for reporting regional issues to Canberra as well as providing information to the region.
RDA-SW is committed to working in the best interests of the region, employing strategies and pursuing goals identified through the SW Blueprint.
Each year RDA-SW establishes a plan of activities, agreed with the Commonwealth. Budgets are set for major items but some provision for flexibility is made so the organisation can respond to emerging need and opportunities which are commonplace as government policy changes are implemented from time to time.
For 2014-15, RDA-SW will be looking to complete its partnership involvement with the South West Development Commission and Department of Agriculture and Food WA, delivering a high quality agricultural strategy. The project partners have engaged Deloitte Access Economics to do this work. High on this year's agenda is building bridges into Asia. RDA-SW is a financial supporter of the Bunbury-Jiaxing Business Office and is partnering the City of Bunbury in presenting the 33rd National Sister Cities Conference. RDA-SW will also engage with the creative sector, again partnering with SWDC. RDA-SW will continue to support the region's identified infrastructure flagship projects: the expansion of Busselton Regional Airport; and, an integrated transport solution for Bunbury Port.
Not least, RDA-SW expects to work with regional stakeholders to progress high quality projects with broad benefits when the Department's new infrastructure funding program is launched.
