Growing Regions Program

The Growing Regions Program (GRP) provides grants of between $500,000 and $15 million to local government entities and not-for-profit organisations, for capital works projects that deliver community and economic infrastructure across regional and rural Australia. GRP Round 1 is now closed with successful funding applicants to be announced soon.

Regional Precincts and Partnerships Program

The Regional Precincts and Partnerships Program (rPPP) is now open with 2 streams available: Stream one - Precinct development and planning: to activate partnerships and to deliver an investment ready precinct plan, with funding of $500,000 and $5 million available. Stream two - Precinct delivery: to deliver a specified project or projects as part of a precinct, with funding of $5 million to $50 million available.

Funding success in the South West

BBRF5 projects: $26.3m

The Commonwealth’s Better Building Regions Fund has enjoyed further success in Round 5, bringing the total grant investment to $26.3m for a project value of $84.3m.

  • City of Bunbury – Hands Oval multi-purpose elite sporting facility in Bunbury. Infrastructure stream: $4.4m towards the $14.4m project

  •  Margaret River Busselton Tourism Association – Ancient Lands Discovery Park at Ngilgi Caves. The project will significantly upgrade and extend the existing visitor experience centre. Tourism infrastructure stream: $1.35m towards the $2.75m project

  •  Ferguson Valley Marketing Inc – ‘Lost and Found Festival’ to showcase the experiences on offer in Bunbury and the Ferguson Valley. Community stream: $48,180 towards the $130,180 project.

  • Manjimup Cherry Harmony Festival Inc – Development of a Strategic, Economic Analysis and Marketing Plan 2021-24. Community stream: $35,000 fully funded project.

  • Margaret River Wine Association Inc – Inaugural Fine Vines Festival marketing and promotions to showcase Margaret River wines over a 10-day event. Community stream: $49,480 towards the $130,180 project.

  • Perth International Jazz Festival Inc – The project will expand the annual Perth International Jazz Festival to include a free one day festival on the Busselton foreshore. Community stream: $22,500 towards the $45,000 project

BBRF3 projects: $8.6m

Round Three of the Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF) saw two South West projects approved to a value of $8.6m.

  • The Shire of Donnybrook-Balingup received a little more than $1.5m towards the $4m upgrade and refurbishment of the Apple Fun Park.

  • Ray Village Aged Services gained $7.1m towards their $33.5m project to create an integrated complex featuring 21 independent living units and an 80-bed dementia facility in Dunsborough.

BBRF2 projects: $5.1m

Round Two of the Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF) saw 136 projects approved to a value of over $200m with a total project value of $459m in the Infrastructure stream.

  • The City of Busselton will receive $1.477m towards Stage 1 of a dedicated Air Freight Hub which will see seven fully serviced industrial lots constructed and the runway apron expanded to service the lots.

  • The Busselton Jetty Inc. has secured $320,000 to establish a marine discovery centre, a multifunctional area and safe swimming area.

  • The Shire of Collie received $764,000 to upgrade the Collie Motorplex.

  • The Shire of Harvey secured $626,000 towards the construction of the new Harvey Community and Sports Centre.

  • BBRF will provide $1.5 m towards a new purpose-built depot and first aid training centre for Busselton's St John Ambulance services.

  • The Shire of Collie has secured $420,000 towards the Collie River Trail and Corridor project.

BBRF1 projects: $6.6m

Round One of the Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF) saw 110 projects approved to a total value of $219.5m in the Infrastructure stream.

  • Capel Shire has secured $2.36m for Stage 4 of its Civic Precinct project. It is intended that the precinct provides a hub for youth, leisure and recreation activities all through a   site that includes a community centre with youth space and amphitheatre.

  • The City of Busselton will get $1.5m towards a $4.5m project to construct a stage, amphitheatre, market stalls, pathways and gardens at the Busselton Jetty foreshore.

  • Collie Shire will receive $74,00 towards their project to build a new truckstop and waste dump point.

  • Manjimup Shire will receive a $2.68m contribution towards a $5.95m project to construct a multi-purpose facility consisting of museum exhibition space, retail and function spaces, workshop and collection storage and plant equipment.
